FAIRLAWN HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES QUARTERLY MEETING
Program Will Feature the History of Fairlawn Heights

Fairlawn Heights:  The Fairlawn Heights Neighborhood Association (FHNA) invites all residents of Fairlawn Heights to attend its Quarterly Meeting, Tuesday, July 9, at 6:30p.m., at Resnick Community Learning Center, 65 N. Meadowcroft Dr, Akron.  The meeting is for FHNA members and non-members – anyone living in Fairlawn Heights.

The highlight of the meeting will be a talk and slide presentation about historic Fairlawn Heights, a development of Goodyear founder, F. A. Seiberling, begun in 1917.  Mr. Seiberling had, several years earlier, develop the Goodyear Heights neighborhood in East Akron for the workers at the Goodyear plant.  As the fumes of burning rubber wafted over the city of Akron, the area to the northwest of the city center became more popular since it was upwind to the rubber smoke.  The Heights quickly became one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Akron and has remained so ever since.  Please join us for this fascinating history of our community.

Joining area residents at the meeting will be 8th Ward Councilwoman Marilyn Keith.

In addition to the speaker, there will be a brief business meeting during which the FHNA will share treasurer and committee reports from the Association and announce upcoming 2019 events and initiatives.

According to its mission statement, the FHNA is created to “provide a forum to express and discuss issues of concern to the homeowners of Fairlawn Heights, to engage with appropriate governmental authorities to resolve matters of concern to the residents of Fairlawn Heights, to enhance community awareness in order to maintain the neighborhood’s culture and environment and to protect property values.”

Any homeowner within the geographic area of Fairlawn Heights is welcome to join.

Membership is not required to attend the meeting, however residents are encouraged to support the organization with both dues and time.  Annual membership is $25 per household per year.
