Update and Lookout!

The following update came from Bob Keener, President, FHNA, regarding the trailers/residence on Frank Boulevard:

Well, we won again, this time at the Akron Planning Board which unanimously rejected Tyler Johnson’s appeal for conditional zoning.  Mr. Johnson did not appear to promote his appeal and several of us spoke in opposition.  My special thanks to John Frank and Marilyn Keith and to Debbie Velzka, whose testimony and graphic display were very important.  And, also, my thanks to the other speakers and those of you who came out on a very cold Friday morning just to demonstrate community support for our position.

Hopefully, Mr. Johnson will realize that he’s fighting a fight he will not win and will elect to cut his losses by settling with the City.  Anything I hear I will , of course, pass on to you.  And, finally, my thanks to you all who supported FHNA in this effort and especially those of you who, in cold weather, went door to door to get the petitions signed.  It’s possible we may still need them but let’s hope that this morning’s decision marks an end to this unfortunate episode.

And this important notice from Officer Brown from the Akron Police Department:

There have been four recent criminal damaging reports made on 2/8 and 2/9/17. In all four incidents unknown suspects shot out large picture/bay windows with a BB or pellet gun. Only one of the incidents happened in Fairlawn Heights (on Stockbridge).  The other three incidents occurred on S. Pershing Ave. At this point we have no suspect or vehicle information. The incidents have been taking place between 6:30 pm and 10:00 pm.  As always, if you could let everyone know if they see anything suspicious please have them get a good description of any suspects or vehicles and give us a call.
